Chain Link

I
built a fence
out of adversity, of
diamond-twisted wire, splitting sun-
light into atoms, repeating
endlessly

fence
or destiny? ~
small comfort in
the paradox of structure and
chaos locked in a
conspiracy

I'm
compelled to build
so that today's puzzles
take on meaning, even from
old emptiness of
yesterday

for
chaos is
a fractal repetition of
shadows shaping light, stretching
my backyard to
infinity
